Trip: San Francisco

I went to San Francisco
I saw the bridges high
Spun across the water
Like cobwebs in the sky

A month?!?

tsk tsk tsk.

Soon after my last post, I finished my skirt (pic will be in next post)

Then it was Caleb's birthday, and he was elated when we had a Star Wars party for him.

He liked his cake.

A few days after the beginning of December, we had our first snowfall. It was only about two or three inches, but to hear the radio people talk, you would have thought that we were about to be snowed in for a year!

And soon we will be going to our grandparents house for Christmas. The ten hour drive is always a bit daunting, but we will bring lots of books-on-tape, a wonderful thing for long rides in the car.

Hopefully I will be posting again before I leave, otherwise it may be a while before you hear from me again.

Been everywhere, done everything (almost)

Our guests arrived yesterday—an old friend of my dad’s and his wife and daughter. Around noon, we got into our cars and drove up to dc. After dropping the moms off at the Holocaust Museum, the rest of us left our cars at Union Station, then went to the National Archives, where we saw The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and several other documents, including the land patent for the property granted to Almonzo Wilder (the guy who married Laura in the Little House on the Prairie books).

From there, we walked to the International Spy Museum, where we met the moms, and ate lunch at the Spy CafĂ©, then commenced to wait for the time when our tickets would let us into the museum, browsing the gift shop, etc. Finally, we were allowed in, and what a museum! It was quite fascinating for all ages, and the displays varied, so it kept my attention the whole way through. I never knew that so much would go into being a spy! It was amazing the technology they used, even back in the 1940’s.

When that was over, we walked back to Union Station, where we bought some pizza, then got our cars and drove to the WWII memorial. There was a ring of states, and in the center, a large, shallow pool, with small fountains at its border, and two spectacular fountains at each end.

I will post pictures of my vacation...

Tuesday’s Inkslinger’s meeting went well. For our assignment, Mrs. Leslie gave us each a piece of paper with a color written at the top, and the page numbered down to 25. We were told to come up with 25 things of that color, then to write a story or poem using all the words... I got green. My list is full, and includes everything from grass to Sprite cans, but help! I have no idea what to write.

Summer

Ducking the mist from the sprinkler as it waves back and forth. Drinking from the hose. Water gun fights and being soaked. Makeshift baseball etc. Stopping the ice cream truck. Collapsing to catch fireflies. This is Summer.
I used to think it would be fun when I would be old enough to drive a car, to squirt people with a water gun in the summer time while parked at a red light. Then I realised I could be arrested for assault. Then I heard this story... I guess my plans have been ditched for now.

3&1/2 days until 2 weeks of vacation...
